Fancy Feeds Layers' Mash
Support consistent daily laying, superb feathering, and beautifully golden yolks with Fancy Feeds Layers' Mash. Expertly formulated by poultry nutritionists as a complete, fully balanced daily ration, this non-GM, medication-free feed is designed to support adult chickens, bantams, and traditional poultry breeds from 18 weeks of age onwards.
Feeding a mash format offers an exceptional, natural feeding experience for backyard hens. Because mash takes longer to peck and consume than pellets, it extends natural feeding behaviour, keeping birds mentally occupied and helping to prevent yard boredom or feather-pecking. Fancy Feeds uses micronised wheat for easily digestible energy alongside high-quality protein (16%) to maintain body condition and egg development. Enhanced with natural plant extracts from marigold and paprika, it ensures rich, deep yolk colours, while added Sel-Plex® organic selenium strengthens immunity and shell durability.
🐓 Why Choose Fancy Feeds Layers' Mash?
- 🍳 Rich Golden Yolks: Natural extracts from marigold flowers and paprika deliver vibrant, deep orange-golden yolk clarity.
- 🧠 Keeps Hens Occupied: The meal texture naturally slows down feeding times, stimulating natural foraging drives and reducing feather-pecking.
- 💪 Fortified Shell Integrity: Enriched with bioavailable calcium and Sel-Plex® organic selenium to promote thick, shatter-resistant eggshells.
- 🌾 Premium Digestible Energy: Includes micronised wheat and essential Omega 6 fatty acids for steady daily energy, tissue maintenance, and egg production.
- 🌱 Pure, Non-GM & Drug-Free: Made completely without artificial growth promoters, preventative drugs, or genetically modified ingredients.

📋 Poultry Feeding & Egg Management Guide
Recommended Feeding Allocation:
- Provide ad-libitum access (keep feeders cleanly topped up 24/7).
- On average, standard hybrid laying hens consume between 100g and 150g per day; bantams consume approximately 50g to 85g per day.
Critical Run Management Guidelines:
- Feeding Options (Dry or Warm Mash): Feed dry in anti-waste feeders, or mix with a small amount of warm water to create a soft, warm porridge-like mash on cold winter mornings—hens love it! (Clean wet troughs daily).
- Feeder Choice: Use tubular or trough feeders with internal lip guards to prevent hens from flicking the dry mash out of the bowl with their beaks.
- Provide Flint & Oyster Shell: Keep a side-pot of mixed poultry grit (flint and oyster shell) available so hens can mechanically grind their feed and access extra calcium as needed.
- ⭐ Top Tip: If introducing mash to hens that were previously fed pellets, introduce it gradually over a 7 to 10-day period. Mixing it with a little warm water initially makes the transition fast and irresistible!
