Simple System Horse Feeds HayCare
🌱 Quick-soaking Timothy-grass hay replacer — ideal for dentally challenged, dust-sensitive or laminitis-prone horses
Short Overview
HayCare is a 100% pure Timothy-grass pellet designed to soak into a soft, palatable mash — perfect for horses and ponies that struggle to chew dry hay. Because it’s naturally low in sugar and starch, and high in fibre, it makes a safe, digestion-friendly alternative to hay for older horses, those with dental issues, metabolic concerns or those needing a dust-free feed.
✅ Key Benefits
– High-fibre Timothy-grass provides gentle, slow-releasing energy — supporting healthy digestion and hindgut function.
– Naturally low sugar (< 7–10%) and low starch (< 2–3%) — suitable for laminitis-prone or metabolic-sensitive equines.
– Quick-soaking pellets turn into a soft, easy-to-chew mash — ideal for older horses or those with poor dentition.
– Dust-free and highly palatable — good for horses with respiratory sensitivities or allergies.
– Can fully replace hay or haylage when soaked correctly — useful post-surgery, after dental work, or when forage quality is poor.
📊 Typical Nutritional Specification (Range)
Major Minerals (typical values) include calcium ~0.48%, phosphorus ~0.14%, potassium ~1.56%, magnesium ~0.09%. Trace minerals such as copper, zinc, manganese, iron and selenium are present in their natural forage-derived levels.
🧾 Composition
100% dried Timothy grass — compressed into quick-soaking 12 mm pellets. No cereals, no molasses, no straw or fillers; just natural grass harvested at hay maturity for optimal fibre and low NSC.
🐴 Feeding & Usage Guide
– Use as a hay or haylage replacer — feed the same dry-weight amount as you would hay.
– Soak in 2.5 × volume of water (warm water speeds soaking), allow to absorb fully — use within 12 hours.
– Divide into 2+ tubs placed separately to promote natural grazing behaviour, if feeding ad lib.
– Ideal for older horses, dentally-challenged ponies, laminitis-prone or metabolic-sensitive equines, or dust-sensitive/respiratory horses.
– Use alongside usual complementary feeds if required (vitamin/mineral balancer etc.) — HayCare is forage, not a complete feed.
– Introduce gradually over a week when switching to HayCare to avoid digestive upset.
